Dear Lindsey Families,
Last week our school hosted a Veterans Day Program, honoring and celebrating veterans and their families. Our program included each grade level singing a patriotic song, an honorary procession, and a reception for veterans and their families. It was an amazing day! Thank you to Mrs. Harrison for helping students prepare for their performance, to Ms. Rodin for the amazing artwork produced by students, to the students and teachers for participating in a respectful and honorary way, to the PTO for sponsoring the event, and to Mrs. Clucas for organizing our materials. Most importantly -- thank you to the veterans for their service to our country! Further below you'll see some pictures of the event. The slideshow featuring vets is linked HERE. Upstander Wall - Our Upstander Wall of Fame went up last week. (Further below are two pictures of students noticing the Upstander display.) Staff members nominate students for being upstanders. An upstander is someone who actively stands up for others, particularly in situations where they witness bullying, unkindness, or wrongdoing. Unlike a passive bystander, who may observe unkind or harmful behavior without taking action, an upstander intervenes to support the targeted person, whether through direct action or seeking help from others.
An upstander may:
Speak out against bullying or discrimination when they see it happening.
Support the victim, either emotionally or by offering help.
Encourage others to do the right thing, promoting a culture of kindness and respect.
Report harmful behavior to authorities, teachers, or other trusted adults.
Class Spotlight - We received more great feedback about Class Spotlights with the last newsletter. Each newsletter will contain 1-3 pictures of our classrooms in action with a caption written by students.
Attendance is a top priority in our building as we strive to keep families informed about chronic absenteeism, defined as missing over 10% of the school year (18 days in a 180-day year). As we have settled into quarter 2, here's a friendly reminder that school starts at 8:50 am and ends at 3:15 pm. See the "Counselor's Corner" below for more information.
Bus Gotchas - Our bus incentive program is "cruising off" to a good start! Bus drivers are giving out Bus Gotcha stickers to students who are demonstrating safe and respectful behavior. Ms. Titgemeier and Mrs. Becerra held a bus program with each grade level (bus riders) and explained the program. Students who get Bus Gotchas are entered in a drawing. Each week 10 names are randomly drawn to receive a prize. Let's keep our buses rolling with safety and respect! (See the pictures further below.)
Happy Thanksgiving,

Adopt A Family:
Lindsey PTO has the opportunity to make the holidays a little brighter for a family in our community. The items requested by the family members are listed in our SignUpGenius link below. You can support our efforts by purchasing a new item from the list, leaving it unwrapped, and then returning it to school by Monday, December 16.
If you aren't able to buy a particular item but would still like to show your support, you can make a monetary donation to be used by PTO to purchase the remaining gifts from the list. Please contact Lindsey PTO at lindseypto@gmail.com if you would like to contribute.
