December 13, 2024
Dear Lindsey Families,
We've had an exciting week with holiday decorations, gift buying, and wrapping. Thanks to everyone who helped run the Holiday Shop and to all of those who supported the Holiday Shop! Next week we have Classroom Holiday Parties from 9:30 - 10:15 am, followed by our Snowflake Sing Along assembly later that afternoon.
ELA Benchmarks - All students in every grade will take the Reading & Writing ELA OST assessment checkpoint at 9:00 am on Tuesday, December 17 and Wednesday, December 18. Why are students taking this? The results will provide teachers insight as to how students are independently applying the strategies being taught in the classroom. Students have taken this every year; this year is the first year that all students are doing so at the same time.
Attendance - We celebrate attendance on Thursday at our "Snowflake Sing Along" assembly. Students who have attended school 95% of the year will be in a drawing to win a prize. Check out our grade level attendance bar graph further below. It's impressive that the grades are all at about 95%!
Girls on the Run - HELP WANTED! This amazing group needs some coaches. Girls on the Run inspires girls to be healthy, confident, and to reach their full potential. If you're interested, please see the flyer below and reach out to Jessica Emick by 12/31/24.
Sincerely,
Melissa Becerra, Principal

Dress Warm for School
Winter weather has arrived and all students should come to school dressed appropriately. Remember to check the weather and dress accordingly.
Going outside is determined on a day by day basis with weather conditions considered. All students should be prepared to go outside everyday with the proper attire.
Appropriate dress for these cold days include hats, boots, snow pants, warm jackets, layers, scarves, and gloves or mittens for students to safely be outside for any period of time, whether it is walking to school, playing outside at recess or just running to and from the car at arrival and dismissal. It is important that children don't leave the house with exposed skin (ears, hands, legs, etc.) as this increases the chance of frostbite.
Please call the school if you need information or referrals to agencies that can help your family secure winter clothing. We want all students to be comfortable while enjoying these brisk winter days.
No Crocs or sweatshirts should be worn as outerwear during winter weather.
We have lots of lost and found items. Please make sure all of your child’s winter wear has his/her name on the inside.
5th graders: If you are interested in trying out for the upcoming Lindsey musical, information went home today with students.
Musical performances will be on Friday, March 14 and Saturday, March 15, 2025.
Do you have an interest in research? If so, this may be for you! The West G Kiwanis Club is having a Stem Fair, and older elementary students may enter. Elementary-aged students can submit an individual project for judging, participate in the math competition, or form a team and enter the "How Do I Fare" problem solving challenge. Check out the website with additional information and registration.
