West G High School had a jam packed Spirit Week to celebrate Kindness Week 2024. Each day students and staff dressed in the daily theme and participated in a Class Volleyball Tournament. Congratulations to the Junior Class who crushed the returning Champs Staff Team in a 3-0 best of 3 victory!
The week ended in the first ever Principal's Cup Challenge vs. Kirtland High School. Thanks to the beauty of technology, West G competed in a series of Minute to Win It type challenges against Kirtland High School that culminated in the Main Event.....Patti vs. Puskas! Mr. Patti came out victorious, winning the 1st Annual Principal's Cup and bragging rights for the year! We are hoping to make this an annual event that will get bigger and better every year! See pictures of the week's festivities below!

Welcome WGHS Class of 2028 families!
West Geauga High School is incredibly excited about the opportunity to work with your students throughout their high school careers! February 21st, the WGHS Counseling Department had the privilege of attending the middle school history classes to discuss the expectations, opportunities, and successful strategies to navigate the high school for the next four years.
Below you will find the presentation that was given to the students as well as the parents that evening. We also attached all the information necessary for your students to put in their elective course choices. When the Academic Plan is unlocked for students, we will reach out to have all 8th graders put in their 2 elective courses of their choosing and 2 backup alternates.
We cannot wait to work with your students throughout their high school career!

Online Safety Parent Presentation
Thank you to all of the parents who were able to join us on February 21 for the Online Safety Parent Presentation held at the high school. As a follow-up to the discussion, several parents requested resources for monitoring and implementing parental controls on their child's social media. Below is a list compiled by the ESC of Northeast Ohio that you may find helpful.
Bark Parental Controls -
Bark monitors texts, email, YouTube, and 30+ apps and social media platforms for signs of issues like cyberbullying, sexual content, online predators, depression, suicidal ideation, threats of violence, and more. Families can manage when their kids can access the internet on their devices, as well as which sites they’re able to visit. You can set bedtimes and block access to a wide variety of websites — including streaming, gaming, and adult content, and more.
InternetMatters.org -
Online safety tips/Guide for parents of 11–13-year-olds
Set Up Safe Checklist: Set your child up for online safely with these simple tasks.
ConnectSafely -
Webwise.ie -
Take IT Down-
This service is one step you can take to help remove online nude, partially nude or sexually explicit photos and videos taken before you were 18.
Common Sense Media-
All students who are interested in or currently participating in the College Credit Plus program during the 2024-2025 school year (this includes students enrolling in courses offered at West Geauga High School, or, a local college) must complete a Letter of Intent by April 1, 2024. This is a state-mandated deadline with no exceptions. Continuing CCP students are also required to submit a letter of intent by April 1, 2024.
Here are the steps required:
1. Obtain a letter of intent from the WGHS School Counseling Office or download it below. Review this with your parents or guardians.
2. Take a photo of the signature page of the letter of intent (no need to get the counselor's signature as we will sign all forms once they are received).
3. Complete the CCP Intent Form Upload Google Form. Please complete the questions and upload the intent form.
4. Apply to the CCP Program (Kent, Lakeland, Tri-C, etc).
5. Once admitted, register for courses. You must obtain your counselor's signature before submitting it to the college.
Students and families must review this presentation regarding College Credit Plus policies and procedures. Additional information can be found on the WGHS website.
Students are encouraged to initiate the college application process ASAP and register for CCP courses before the summer break.
Please contact your school counselor with any questions.
On 3/7 during Wolverine Period, the Counselors will be reviewing the CCP Information presentation that was given back in December to students who were not able to attend. We will meet in the Choir Room.
Students will be expected to sign in to let attendance know that they are present with us. If they do not sign in, they are responsible for any consequences deemed appropriate by the administration.
