Happy New Year!
We are happy to have everyone in the building again to kick-off the new semester. Second quarter report cards are now available to view on Infinite Campus.
Be on the lookout for your student's Winter MAP scores to be given to your student the week of January 15th. Please contact Becky Edwards (becky.edwards@westg.org) in the Middle School Main Office if those scores don't make it home.

Club Baseball and Club Softball Registration
Registration is now open for 7th or 8th grade Club Baseball and Softball. Any boy interested in Club Baseball or girl interested in Club Softball must be registered now in Final Forms (https://westg-oh.finalforms.com/). Parents must log in or create an account. Once that is done, click next to select the sport(s) that you would like your child to register for. Please complete all forms in Final Forms and sign them electronically. There are places where your Athletes must also sign the forms electronically. To play a club sport, a valid physical on OHSAA paperwork must be uploaded or it can be submitted to the middle school office.
The West Geauga Board of Education must approve the Club teams for the 2024 season. Softball was approved during the January 8 meeting. Club teams are responsible for having a volunteer coach, team manager, and they must provide their own uniforms, equipment and transportation to games. That means, there will be a fee to play the sport that will be charged by the team manager. In the past, it has been around $150.
We currently are close to having a coach for the softball team, but do not have a coach or team manager for the baseball team. Once there is a coach or team manager identified for baseball, the Board will have an opportunity to review the program for 2024.
There will be tryouts in February. More information will come in the next few weeks. All information will be sent through Final Forms, which is another reason why it is important to sign up quickly.
Please direct any questions regarding middle school athletics to Frank Vosicky (frank.vosicky@westg.org).
High School Boys Soccer
The West Geauga High School boys soccer team is already getting ready for next fall! Spring conditioning will begin in February. Any current 8th grade boys interested in playing high school soccer are welcome to participate.
If you would like to be included in future team communications, please fill out the following form: https://forms.gle/j8fT21J1gfYmAq5Z6

As the second semester is underway, we are beginning to think about scheduling for next school year. In preparation, the West Geauga High School counselors will be coming into Social Studies classes on February 21 to present to the 8th graders. In this presentation, the 8th graders will learn about the courses to take next, ask questions, future planning and more. That same night, the high school counselors will also provide a parent presentation at the high school in room 124. More details to come as the date approaches.
End of Semester Volleyball Game
Students ended the last day of the second quarter trying once again to beat their teachers in a game of volleyball. The sixth, seventh and eighth grade classes each had their chance at victory, but the teachers came out on top and remained undefeated. Enjoy these photos capturing all of the fun.
