Dear Families,
I hope this message finds you well. I want to express my gratitude for your continued support and partnership.
I am pleased to inform you that the Quarter 2 awards for merit, honors, and 4.0 achievement certificates have been created and will be coming home. We encourage you to celebrate these accomplishments with your child.
We invite your child to participate in the Kiwanis STEM Fair; please see the attached flyer for more details.
We are thankful for our relationship with the PTO. Their outstanding efforts to support our staff and students have made a significant impact and we are truly grateful.
On Thursday, January 30th at 5:30pm we will be hosting the 8th grade Parent Night at West Geauga High School in Room 124! Please join us as we review preparing for high school, scheduling, graduation requirements, high school policies and procedures, and much more!
All 6th grade students were given packets with information for Camp Fitch during science classes yesterday. Please fill out the permission slips as soon as possible. They can be turned in to the front office.
As winter settles in, please remind your middle schoolers to dress appropriately for the cold and snowy weather. While they love their crocks and slippers, it’s important to remember that we still practice fire drills!
Reminder - School fees must be paid through Infinite Campus or you can write a check made out to West Geauga Board of Education. If you have not paid, fees are past due and must be paid promptly. Please contact Becky Edwards at becky.edwards@westg.org with any questions related to fees.
If you are missing lunch boxes, water bottles, hoodies, tshirts, or jackets, please check our lost and found! There are several in the building - right outside Room 30 and in the cafeteria. And if your child is missing gym clothes, each locker room has its own lost and found. We will be donating all items on February 21.
Sincerely,
Meagan Bellan, Principal

Tardy Policy
Please be aware, that we are issuing consequences for unexcused tardiness to school. Each morning, we will track that students are in their first period class ready to learn by 7:25 am. If a student were to earn 3 unexcused tardies, a lunch detention will be issued. Lunch detentions will continue to be issued if a student hits 6 unexcused tardies and at 9 unexcused tardies in the quarter. If a student accumulates 12 or more unexcused tardies to school, an In-School Restriction will be issued. At WGMS, we are aligning our student tardy policy with the student tardy policy at WGHS to establish consistency. Please reach out to Miss Moeschberger should you have any questions.
Middle School Honors Choir
The WGMS Choir program had twelve 7th and 8th grade students accepted to the OMEA District VII Honor Choir group. The group included choir students from 16 schools in the Cleveland area, and was conducted by a college/university level guest conductor. This was a 2 day event that consisted of rehearsals and culminated with a full performance at the end of the second day. We are very proud of our students' hard work and wanted to share their accomplishment!
Attention West G parents/guardians of school bus riders - the "Here Comes the Bus" mobile app designed to provide real-time tracking and updates for school bus transportation is now live for our district. If you have not already downloaded the app, follow the instructions below.
This program is applicable only to West Geauga students assigned a transportation schedule and who ride consistently to or from any of our four buildings. To use the app, you need your child’s six digit student number that can be found on Infinite Campus and our district code, which is 87371. If you have more than one child, you will need to add each student number.
Refer to the email sent on January 17, 2025 for full details.
Your Here Comes the Bus feedback is important and we encourage you to share your experiences, both positive and negative. Please use this link to provide your feedback: Here Comes the Bus Experience Feedback.
