Join us on November 14 at 6 p.m. in the MS Cafeteria for a meeting with our Nowak Tour Representative. He's going to go over the itinerary, cost, and how-to's of signing up your 7th grader for this year's one-day trip to Pittsburgh.
Monday, 11/6, at 6:00 pm - There will be an informational meeting about social media, digital safety, and the impact it has on students. Students at WGMS are increasingly talking about content on social media. This program is being planned closely with our SSO, Officer Sean Day. The presenter, Investigator Warner, a colleague of Officer Day, currently works for the Geauga Prosecutor’s Office. Investigator Warner has over 20 years of experience investigating child exploitations. Additionally, he has worked for Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Therefore, Investigator Warner has a deep knowledge of this topic – and we are delighted for him to share his knowledge with our families and students.
This will be presented in person at West Geauga Middle School. (Both MS and LN families are invited to attend.)
There will be free childcare provided on 11/6/23.
The presentation is for adults only, which is why we'll provide childcare for ages 4 and up. High schoolers will supervise a showing of a video (TBD) and calming activities (coloring, drawing, etc) in the Middle School Library. If you wish to take advantage of this, please complete this form by 11/2/23 so we know how many students to plan for and how many volunteers to coordinate.
On 11/13, Mr. Warner will talk with each grade level about digital safety. This presentation is for all students. If you prefer your student not attend this, please email meagan.bellan@westg.org by Friday, 11/10/23.
How do families prepare students for a future forward workforce? What opportunities are available to students as they make academic and career choices in their pathway beyond graduation? West Geauga Local Schools in partnership with the Educational Service Center of the Western Reserve and BridgED will host a panel discussion about our changing workforce needs, emerging trends and the skills employers need for the careers of tomorrow. Join us on November 8, 2023 at 6:00 pm at West Geauga High School. Our panel includes representatives from Forge Biologics, Cleveland Clinic, Swagelok, ISSQUARED and the West Geauga Chamber of Commerce. This informative session will help guide students and families in making good academic and work experience decisions for their future. No registration required – this event is open to the community.
Extra Credit for Students: On this night Mrs. Dorko and Mrs. Weisbarth will be in charge of the “Extra Credit” table for our middle school students. WGMS Students will stop by and pick up an Extra Credit form that they will then complete and return to a teacher by Friday, November 10th. You must have your COMPLETED form turned in to the teacher of your choice by Friday, November 10th. Extra credit awarded will be up to teacher discretion.
