WGMS families,
School is out for the summer! Keep an eye on our website for updates this summer. Please read this newsletter carefully to learn more about a new procedure for picture day, information on back-to-school supplies, and more!
In early June, we sent an email home with your child's scheduled courses. This will not delineate the order of their classes or identify their classroom teacher but will be an attempt to ensure they are scheduled for the correct courses. If you notice an error, please reach out to Mrs. Bellan or Mrs. Weisbarth. If you did not receive the email, please contact Mrs. Edwards.
The Annual Census Review was sent to returning families. Please be sure to complete by the July 12, 2024 deadline. New students to West Geauga do not need to complete the Census for this school year.
The Upper PTO is holding their first meeting of the 24-25 year. Please feel free to join in at 6pm on July 22 at the Community PD Room in the Board Office
Students will get their specific schedule at Conquer Your Locker which has been scheduled for August 12th for all grade levels. During this event, you and your child will have the opportunity to get their schedule (it will also be in Infinite Campus) and walk the building. 6th graders will receive their locks, while 7th and 8th graders should bring their locks with them. We will be taking school pictures at this event. If your child is unable to attend, we will make up pictures during a re-take day. (See flyer below)
To help prevent congestion, we encourage families to come during the times below:
6th grade: 8-9 am (Last Name A-G), 9-10 am (H-P), 10-11 am (Q-Z)
New Student Orientation 7/8th grade – 11:00-12:00 PM
7th/8th grade: 12:30-1:15 pm (A-G), 1:15-2:00 pm (H-P), 2:00-2:45 pm (Q-Z)
Additionally, the building will be available for students to walk their schedules on 8/13 from 7:00-10:00 am if they are unable to come on CYL or need additional practice. The remainder of the week will be filled with professional development for teachers so please plan to familiarize yourself with the building on those specific dates/times.
Drop Off and Pick Up - Please use this sheet as a guide for morning drop off and afternoon pick-up

Looking to get supplies for the upcoming school year?
Check out this document for all the supplies we are asking students to bring next year!
For the upcoming 2024-2025 school year, all 7th grade students are required by the state of Ohio to have proof of one (1) dose of both Meningococcal (MCV4, Menactra), and the Tdap Vaccine on file in the clinic by the fourteenth (14th) day of the new school year. Documentation must be provided and can be a signed note from the physician's office or an immunization summary print out. Proof must include the month, day, and year of both vaccinations. You may submit documentation any time between now and the start of the 2024-2025 school year.
Documentation may be mailed to the school, faxed to 440-729-5909, or emailed directly to the middle school nurse, Mrs. Wright, RN at stephanie.wright@westg.org
If you have any questions, please feel free to call or email Mrs. Wright.
Please read the attached letter from West Geauga High School regarding summer reading.
On May 15, parents of current 6th graders were able to create athletic accounts for their student-athletes in Final Forms: https://westg-oh.finalforms.com/
Once registered, you can check next to any sports that your daughter or son may be interested in playing.
Current sports offerings are:
Fall - cheerleading, cross country, football and volleyball
Winter - basketball, cheerleading and wrestling
Spring - club baseball, club softball and track
Parents of current 7th and 8th graders do not need to register their athletes again. On June 10th these accounts rolled over and 7th graders became 8th graders and 8th graders will became 9th graders. Parents can also register them for next year's sports any time after May 15.
Please remember that all sports require students to have a current physical on file on the OHSAA 2024-25 paperwork. This will be available soon on the West Geauga Middle School athletics web page: https://www.westg.org/o/wgms/page/athletics-new
Some coaches will offer summer training opportunities and they communicate through Final Forms. The website will be updated periodically as well.
If you have any questions related to athletics, contact frank.vosicky@westg.org
