Hello, Westwood Families!
Welcome to 2025!
We are happy to be back in our school routine as Westwood students! We spent the week reinforcing our PBIS expectations of being respectful, responsible, and ready to learn! Countless ‘gotcha’ stickers and positive referrals were awarded this week!
At the end of January, we will start our second No Place for Hate lesson focusing on bullying prevention. Kindergarten and first graders will have a group discussion about the book Stacey’s Extraordinary Words by Stacey Abrams, and second graders will have a group discussion about the book Just Kidding by Trudy Ludwig. At the end of the lesson, students will have two strategies for responding to and reporting bullying-related behaviors. Please ask your students what they remember from these lessons! If you prefer to opt-out your student from this lesson please email Mrs. Watson at megan.watson@westg.org.

From Westwood PTO: Welcome back to the second half of the year! We hope everyone enjoyed a restful break. If these cold days of January have you feeling a bit of cabin fever, we have a few upcoming events for the cure!
It's cold outside, but the heat is on at Kalahari! Take advantage of a long weekend and book your stay at the indoor waterpark for Thursday, February 13th. Book today - the deadline for reservations is January 13th!
Let's Glow! Put on your whitest whites or brightest brights, and join us for our next skating party at United Skates of America in Wickliffe on Wednesday, January 15th from 6-8:30pm. Save the cooking for them by printing out the attached coupons for dinner specials.
Grab your dabbers and be ready to yell BINGO! Book BINGO returns Tuesday, January 21st from 6-7:30pm in the Westwood cafeteria. This fun event is free and everyone goes home a winner!

PTO Member Meeting minutes from December 17th were emailed out to members this week. Email us with any questions or comments at pto.westwood@gmail.com. We're taking a break from meeting in January and will resume on Tuesday, February 11th at 6pm at Westwood.
