Hello, Westwood Families!
Last week, students and staff had the opportunity to sign the No Place for Hate pledge. Throughout the remainder of the school year, I will visit classrooms to present additional lessons regarding bullying prevention, being an upstander, and empathy. Below is a list of the books I will use during the lessons. If you prefer your student to opt out of the No Place for Hate lessons, please contact Mrs. Megan Watson - megan.watson@westg.org.
November/December
All Grades: I Walk With Vanessa by Kerascoët
January/February
Kindergarten and Grade 1: Stacey’s Extraordinary Words by Stacey Abrams
Grade 2: Just Kidding by Trudy Ludwig

Grade 1 and 2: Each Kindness by Jacqueline Woodson
We will continue to practice our PBIS three Rs (Respectful, Responsible, and Ready to Learn) along with the PAX leadership skills. All of these programs are important elements of creating and maintaining a positive Westwood community.
Take care!

Greetings Westwood Elementary School Families. My name is Anya Meyer and I'm the Library Media Specialist for the District. I have been working with our Clerk Librarian Mrs. Murry to refresh our Library and help students find books that they love. I have created a website for students and families that focus on our Library online resources here: https://sites.google.com/westg.org/library-media-wg-schools/home. Our new website provides information about ebooks and online resources provided by the State of Ohio and we look forward to supporting our students' academic endeavors.

Holiday Shop Seeks Elves!
The annual Westwood PTO Holiday Shop returns December 9th-12th! This beloved event allows children to shop affordably for their loved ones for the holiday season (and without parents having to lug them to the stores). This event couldn't happen without the help of our elves - all of YOU! Helpers are needed in the week prior for set up and pricing, as well as during the event to assist kids with shopping and gift wrapping. Please consider signing up for a time that your child won't be shopping - kids love to keep their gifts a surprise!
