The Winter weather has arrived at Westwood! Please ensure that children are sent to school with hats, gloves, boots, snow pants, and jackets because we go outside for recess almost every day! If your child forgets anything, please remind them to come to the office. We have a supply of extra gear!
Thank you to our Westwood PTO and Families for all of your support of our school, especially during the holidays! Please note all of the information below from the Westwood PTO.
I have listed the upcoming events for December and January. Please see our website, www.westg.org, for more dates and information.

Happy December, Westwood Families!
For the second half of the year, I will be accepting requests for students to join me for a lunch bunch. A lunch bunch is a chance for students to eat lunch with me and a couple of other students in my office. Sometimes, we have time for a quick game before they join their class for recess. These informal lunches are a wonderful opportunity for the WW students and me to connect and get to know one another! Some students have already requested a lunch bunch and I am creating a schedule. If you would like to receive a notification when your child requests a lunch bunch please let me know.
I am currently visiting classrooms for our first No Place for Hate lesson. All grade levels are reading The Day You Begin by Jacqueline Woodson. I made a slight adjustment to the books for future lessons. I will include the following book for Kindergarten: The Smallest Girl in the Smallest Grade by Justin Roberts. If you prefer for your child to opt out of the No Place for Hate lessons, please email Mr. Kish - jim.kish@westg.org. Please check out our No Place for Hate bulletin board by the main hallway! A special thank you to our school counseling internship student, Ms. Meredith Grenci, for her assistance with this special project!
As we enter the colder months of the year, I am reminded of the warmth and support of the Westwood students, families, and staff. Thank you for all you do to make West Best!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Sarah Wisniewski

Holiday Shop Help
The annual Westwood PTO Holiday Shop returns December 11-14. This beloved event allows children to shop affordably for their loved ones for the holiday season (and without parents having to lug them to the stores). This event couldn't happen without the help of our elves - all of YOU! Helpers are needed to assist kids with shopping and gift wrapping. Please consider signing up for a time that your child won't be shopping - kids love to keep their gifts a surprise!

PTO Member Meeting & Volunteer Appreciation
Please join us on Thursday, December 14, @ 6 pm in the Westwood library for our monthly members' meeting. This month's meeting will also be an opportunity for the PTO Board to show our appreciation for our parent volunteers. Please join us for discussion and refreshments. And just by showing up, you'll be entered to win lunch with Mr. Kish for your child and a friend. See you there!
Staff Holiday Luncheon
On Wednesday, December 20, PTO will honor the Westwood staff with a holiday luncheon. We're asking parents to provide dessert. No need to sign up - just make sure your sweet treats are dropped off in the office by that morning. Homemade or store-bought - anything is appreciated!
Amazon Wish List
A lot of us are short on time during this busy holiday season but still find ourselves wanting to give back. Consider supporting the PTO by purchasing from our Amazon Wish List. There are a variety of items available in various price ranges. All items will be used at PTO events throughout the year. An immediate need on our list is gift-wrapping supplies. If you've ever seen our PTO elves at work during the annual Holiday Shop, you'll know they go through a LOT of wrapping paper and tape! To help offset the cost of these supplies and keep prices low for our young shoppers, we're asking for donations. And we're making it easy by putting our requests at your fingertips. Just hit "purchase" from your Amazon account and those blue trucks will deliver right to our Westwood doors.

Adopt a Family
As we've done in the past, Westwood PTO has the opportunity to make the holidays a little brighter for a family in our community. The items requested by the family members are listed in our SignUpGenius link below. You can support our efforts by purchasing a new item from the list, leaving it unwrapped, and then returning it to school by Monday, December 11th. If you aren't able to buy a particular item but would still like to show your support, you can make a monetary donation to be used by PTO to purchase the remaining gifts from the list. Please contact Westwood PTO at pto.westwood@gmail.com if you would like to make a financial contribution.
Westwood PTO Adopt-A-Family 2023
