Hello, Westwood Families!
As we wrap up our second quarter and first semester of school, I smile when I think about how much Westwood students have grown over the past few months! Getting to know your children through classroom lessons, small groups, lunch bunches, and quick conversations in the hallways has been a pleasure. I cannot wait to continue this excitement into the second half of the school year!
We will announce our PBIS Westwood GRRR8 Wolverines and ACE Award winners within the next few weeks. GRRR8 is pronounced ‘great’ and incorporates the three Rs: Respectful, Responsible, and Ready to Learn. All students who received at least one green PBIS Pawsitive Referral will be entered into the drawing to represent their grade level as a GRRR8 Wolverine! Teachers nominate students for the ACE Awards, recognizing students who display positive attitudes, citizenship, and effort. If your student receives an ACE Award, you will receive additional information from Mr. Kish.
In January, the No Place for Hate lesson will include a reading and discussion of Alma and How She Got Her Name by Juana Martinez-Neal. Students will have an opportunity to share why their name is special and the importance of learning the names of others.
Best wishes to you and your families for a safe and restful winter break!

On Wednesday, December 20, PTO will be honoring the Westwood staff with a holiday luncheon. We're asking parents to provide dessert. No need to sign up - just make sure your sweet treats are dropped off in the office by that morning. Homemade or store-bought - anything is appreciated!
