Hello, Westwood Families!
As we turn the corner to wrap up the third quarter and start the fourth quarter, I wanted to take a moment to share information about the small groups, often known as “Lunch Bunch”, I facilitate at Westwood Elementary.
Zones of Regulation: This social-emotional learning curriculum teaches emotion recognition and self-regulation.
Social Detective and Superflex: The curriculum teaches social awareness, flexible thinking, and self-regulation.
Wolverine Club: We reinforce the behavior expectations of PBIS (Respectful, Responsible, and Ready to Learn) and encourage positive engagement within the Westwood community.
(Parents/Guardians receive additional information and the option to opt-out from the above lunch bunches)
Casual Lunch Bunch: A couple of students from the same grade level gather, and we read a book, play a quick board game, or do another team-building activity. This is a popular request! (Please email me if you prefer your student to not participate in a casual lunch bunch.)
Lunch bunches have been a highlight of my year! I am happy to answer any questions.
Take care!

ROCK YOUR SOCKS FOR WORLD DOWN SYNDROME DAY, March 20th No school on 3/21, so we will celebrate a day early, MARCH 20! Honor those living with Down Syndrome and wear mismatched socks. Why mismatched socks? Chromosomes in our cells look like a pair of socks, and individuals with Down Syndrome have an extra chromosome. By wearing mismatched, fun, or colorful socks, we can start a conversation about the things that make all of us different and yet the same.
Our next popcorn day is Thursday, March 20th. Sign-up now: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080B4AACA92FA1FA7-55562627-westwood
