September 1, 2023
The first two weeks of the school year have quickly concluded. I want to thank all of our families for your support of the work we do at Westwood Elementary School!
We have been impressed with our Westwood Students this year. We will begin our MAP assessments for 1st and 2nd Grades on September 11, 2023. Our Kindergarteners will begin these assessments on September 18, 2023. All students will be assessed in English/Language Arts and Mathematics. We administer the MAP assessments three times throughout the year. We use this data to monitor the growth of each of our students.
Once again, thank you for all that you do to make Westwood Elementary School a wonderful place to learn and grow.
Please always feel free to contact me at (440) 729-5995 or jim.kish@westg.org.
Sincerely,
Jim Kish, Principal

Parents who are dropping off and/or picking up students in the car lines will help us by doing the following:
Please ensure your child is ready to exit the vehicle when it is your turn. This will help move the line rapidly.
Have ID ready for staff to verify identity during pick-up.
Drivers - please do not exit your vehicle when dropping off.
Make sure your vehicle is in PARK when children are exiting or entering.
Lindsey Lane - If you have a child being shuttled from Lindsey to Westwood, please use the Lindsey Lane. It is marked with an orange cone. This lane will be dismissed once all of the students have been shuttled to Westwood.
Here are some reminders from Mrs. Berardinelli:
If your child has a fever, please keep them home for 24 hours without using fever-reducing medication.
For children in need of medication administered at school, please complete the MAR form for each medication. Click Here for the Form
Feel free to contact the Main office if you have any questions at (440) 729-5990.
Westwood Elementary School Welcomes Officer Scott McDermott of the Russell Police Department as our School Safety Officer. Officer Scott is a 33 year veteran of the department. Our Westwood family is grateful that he is now one of us!
If you need to get in contact with Officer Scott, please email him at scott. mcdermott@westg.org.
Thank you for the warm welcome to Westwood Elementary!
During the first two weeks of the school year, I visited individual classrooms to introduce the school counselor's role. If you ask your students, they may recall my lesson, including “Mrs. Potatohead” and a game of Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes! I am excited to collaborate with staff and families to support the academic, social, and emotional growth of our students.
I am in the building every day, and I look forward to meeting more Westwood families! Let’s make it a great year!
