Hello, Westwood Families!
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! I am excited to enter my second year as the school counselor at Westwood Elementary. I look forward to meeting our new families and reconnecting with our first and second graders! To help you place a name with a face - during dismissal, I am the person in the parking lot helping with the front car line. The students call me Mrs. W or Mrs. Wisniewski (whiz-NOO-skee).
A school counselor is an educator who supports students' academic, social, emotional, and career development through direct and indirect services and collaborative relationships with students, families, school staff, and the community. During the school year, I visit the classrooms for lessons, coordinate the No Place for Hate initiative, assist with the implementation of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), facilitate small groups, and support individual student needs. My role allows me to be a member of many different teams and wear lots of hats! As we progress through the year, I will use the newsletter to share updates regarding PBIS, classroom lessons, and school events. Feel free to contact me with any questions or suggestions.
Best wishes for a joyful school year!
Mrs. Sarah Wisniewski

MORNING DROP-OFF:
Students will be allowed to enter the building beginning at 8:50 am. Buses drop off at front doors.
Parents dropping off in the morning should refer to the map below. Students will exit your vehicle and be assisted into the building by staff. Please make sure your student is exiting the car from the passenger side.
Please know that if your child elects to have breakfast at school, this will need to be efficient so that all students can get to class as quickly as possible.
AFTERNOON PICK-UP:
Parents picking up their child in the afternoon can refer to the map below. Students are released to the pick-up line at 3:25 pm. Students will need to enter the car through the passenger door. Staff cannot buckle your student in, please make sure they are able to do this themselves. This will help with making our car line more efficient.
If your student is not an every day car rider, it is important that a parent/guardian completes the End of Day Transportation Form found on the Westwood webpage each day that there is a change to the normal schedule. This will make the end of day procedure the most efficient so that teachers know where to release your child. Please complete the form before 9:30 am on the day of your pick-up. Please no phone calls or emails to the main office with changes unless it is an emergency.
If your students needs to be released early from school, select that option on the End of Day Transportation form. Students should be picked up by 3:00 pm. Please bring your driver's license if you are picking up a student early.
