Parents who are dropping off and/or picking up students in the car lines will help us by doing the following:
Please ensure your child is ready to exit the vehicle when it is your turn. This will help move the line rapidly.
Have ID ready for staff to verify identity during pick-up.
Drivers - please do not exit your vehicle when dropping off.
Please have students exit the vehicle on the sidewalk side of the car.
Make sure your vehicle is in PARK when children are exiting or entering.
Lindsey Lane - If you have a child being shuttled from Lindsey to Westwood, please use the Lindsey Lane. It is marked with an orange cone. This lane will be dismissed once all of the students have been shuttled to Westwood.
Here are some reminders from Mrs. Berardinelli:
When to keep your student home from school:
Temperature >100.4 (Can return to school when fever-free without the use of fever-reducing medication for 24 hours)
Vomiting (Can return to school when they have not vomited for 24 hours)
Diarrhea (Can return to school when they have had no diarrhea for 24 hours)
Vision & Hearing Screening:
State-required vision and hearing screenings will be completed for all kindergarten, 1st grade, and new students on September 18, 19, and 20th.
All students will be screened unless a parent provides a letter of exemption.
You will receive a referral notice if there are any concerns about your child’s vision or hearing. Please have your child seen by a physician and return the completed form to the school health office.
Officer Scott has noticed a concern at Westwood!!
Too many students are traveling at a high rate of speed in the building-Running!
He has begun a program "Walk Safe, Arrive Safely. Please see the Signs he has posted around the building below. We appreciate you reinforcing this at home.
Hello Westwood Families!
Has your student come home with a ‘Gotcha’ sticker? If so, please ask them how they earned it! As part of our PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) Program, students earn ‘Gotcha’ stickers for demonstrating at least one of our three behavior expectations known as the three Rs: Respectful, Responsible, and Ready to Learn. It is exciting to hear how Westwood students are meeting and exceeding these expectations. More to come on PBIS!
To help you put a face with my name…After school, I assist with directing cars in the pick-up line. Feel free to introduce yourself!

The Westwood Walk is the primary PTO fundraiser for the year and an opportunity for students to have a great time outside in a laid-back but fun setting. At the Walk on Friday, September 29th, students will walk outside with their grades at the following times:
Kindergarten: 2:00pm-2:25pm
1st Grade: 2:30 pm-2:55 pm
2nd Grade: 3:00 pm-3:25 pm
Along the way, they'll enjoy an apple snack (thank you, Patterson Fruit Farm), temporary tattoos, music, and more.
Parents are invited to walk with their students at their designated time. The Walk takes place behind the school, and parents will be signed in there before joining their students on the course. We also have volunteer opportunities listed here (if you just want to walk with your student, no need to sign up to volunteer):

The money that students raise is put right back into Westwood through PTO programs throughout the year. We have prizes for our top individual and class fundraisers, which are described at each level on the attached info sheet.
Online giving is fast and easy: https://my.cheddarup.com/c/westwood-walk-2023 , you can send in checks/cash via the envelope that we sent home last week. If that went missing, you can send in any envelope marked for "Westwood Walk/PTO" -- just make sure it has your student's name and teacher written on it.
We'll keep sending updates on the Walk via email and on the PTO Facebook page.
Thanks for your support!
Popcorn Thursdays
Popcorn Thursdays are making a comeback, and you butter believe we're popping with excitement! Popcorn Thursdays will occur on a monthly basis. Students will have the opportunity to purchase a bag of popcorn after they've completed their lunch. Popcorn is $0.50/bag (cash/coins), or you can purchase a pass for a one-time cost of $3 that covers the entire year.
To purchase a pass for a Westwood student, pop over to this CheddarUp link:
my.cheddarup.com/c/westwood-popcorn-pass
And if you're as excited as we are, then come lend a hand! This is a fun way to help out AND see your kiddo during the school day.
Volunteer sign-up is now available for September 21st:
