Hello, Westwood Families!
There are so many wonderful things happening in our building! A few weeks ago we had an all school assembly to review our PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) behavior expectations: Respectful, Responsible, and Ready to Learn. At this assembly, we introduced a Positive Behavior Referral and the Gold Tray Game.
Students who go above and beyond with PAX leadership and display the 3Rs can earn a Positive Behavior Referral. The classroom teacher submits a form to nominate a student and at the end of the week students are called to the office, receive a gold Gotcha sticker, and their photo is included in our newsletter.
The Gold Tray game occurs during lunch. Each week there is a different goal and classrooms earn points when they demonstrate behaviors aligned with the weekly goal. Grade level classrooms are engaged in a friendly competition to see who can earn the most points. At the end of the week, the classroom with the most points receives a gold tray to display in their classroom for the week along with an extra recess with Mrs. Wisniewski!
With the help of Mrs. Erin Brooks (School Psychologist Internship Student) classrooms received an additional presentation reviewing recess behavior expectations. Conversations included ways to safely use the playground equipment. Later, classroom teachers took their students outside to practice playground safety.
If you have any questions regarding these programs feel free to contact me!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Sarah Wisniewski
