Hello, Westwood Families!
We will have our first No Place for Hate lesson in December. I will visit individual classrooms for a reading of I Walk With Vanessa and an activity. We will discuss the definition of an ally/ upstander as a person who helps or stands up for someone being mistreated and how kindness is contagious!
As a school counselor, I run small groups during the school year. If your student is recommended for a small group, you will receive a letter and an email from me describing the group and an option to opt-out. You are welcome to contact me via phone for any questions regarding these letters.
When time allows, I also like to have casual lunch bunches separate from the small groups. These are additional opportunities for me to get to know the wonderful students of Westwood Elementary! After we eat lunch we play a game, read a book, or students have free time to explore some of the activities and fidgets in my office. If you prefer your student to not participate in a lunch bunch please email me.
Maintaining a consistent routine as we move into colder weather and the holidays can help families continue strong school attendance. Consider having a posted morning and nighttime schedule, or, a checklist of tasks that need to be completed at a particular time of the day. Even our youngest students can have a part in being prepared for the day by having bookbags and shoes in a specific place every evening! I am happy to provide examples and support your student’s attendance!
I am thankful for your support!
Take care!

Gift Wrap Supply Drive & Amazon Wish List
In an effort to support the upcoming Holiday Shop, we're seeking donations of gift wrap supplies - wrapping paper, gift bags, tissue paper, and tape dispenser refills. Items can be dropped off in the wrapped gift box in the Westwood vestibule anytime from now through December 6th.
If you're short on time and can't make it to the store, check out our Amazon Wish List instead! Thanks for your support!
Holiday Shop Seeks Elves!
The annual Westwood PTO Holiday Shop returns December 9th-12th! This beloved event allows children to shop affordably for their loved ones for the holiday season (and without parents having to lug them to the stores). This event couldn't happen without the help of our elves - all of YOU! Helpers are needed in the week prior for set up and pricing, as well as during the event to assist kids with shopping and gift wrapping. Please consider signing up for a time that your child won't be shopping - kids love to keep their gifts a surprise!
